Through our relationships with various standards committees, the FCC, VoIP platform providers and our customers, RedSky is keenly aware of the legislation and regulatory requirements, as well as the impact of technology and standards on implementation requirements for E911.
By our own estimates based on Department of Labor statistics, more than 60 million Americans working in or visiting office buildings, office campuses, hospitals and government buildings do not have the same 911 protection that they have at home. While specific states have enacted regulations locally, 911 remains a serious issue within enterprises.
This E911 Resource Center includes:
- Why E911, important factors to consider in adopting E911, real-life situations where E911 could've helped, and what key leaders have to say about the issue.
- How E911 Works provides an overview of how 911 calls are handled and how E911 location information is maintained and delivered to emergency dispatchers and first responders.
- The E911 Legislation, FCC and Public Policy section details current and proposed E911 state legislation, information on NENA's proposed national Enhanced 9-1-1 legislation and related FCC regulatory activities for VoIP service providers.
- An overview of E911 corporate liability and risk management details the importance of E911 as part of a comprehensive emergency preparedness plan for a safe working environment.
