Softphone Location Determination (SLDA)

SLDA allows enterprises to provide complete 911 protection to their employees, whether they are within or outside the corporate network.

RedSky has developed technology that allows us to track the location of any Microsoft-based softphone using a client application called SLDA (Softphone Location Determination Application).

SLDA is loaded on the laptop with the softphone. Every time the softphone is booted up, SLDA preempts the registration process of the softphone and requires the user to identify their location to the enterprise. The screen shot below shows how a user can quickly select a location from a favorites list (Home, Office, Favorite hotel, etc.) or they can enter a new location.

If the location selected is from the favorites list, the user is immediately released to the softphone application. If it is a new location, it is first validated as an MSAG valid address (one that an emergency responder would recognize), and then the user is released to the softphone application. The validation process of a new address takes less than 10 seconds.

SLDA supports the mobility inherent in softphones. Users can be in the office, at home or across the country and still get E911 support. SLDA works hand-in-hand with the RedSky E911 Anywhere™ service which can connect a 911 call anywhere in the USA. Softphone users that dial 911 when they are remote from the enterprise will have their 911 calls sent to the E911 Anywhere™ service which will route the 911 call to the PSAP based upon the location that the user designated using SLDA
